i’m taking a quick moment before this conference (yeah, i came back for more) to post some photos from some concerts i recently shot.

john mayer and ben folds

this has to be the best concert i’ve ever shot. the photos came out great. i got to see ben folds playing table tennis. folds also gave me a little shout-out on stage.

after his first song, i was trying to get some shots of him while he was not behind the piano. he looks down at me and says, “hold on, everybody. this concert photographer is taking some shots of me, and i’m not doing shit and he looks bored. hold on, let me do something for him.”

he steps back and then runs and throws himself into his piano. he then throws his stool at the piano, and if that wasn’t enough, he gave a great rockstar pose. after all that, i got maybe three great shots out of it. but still, damn, i had a great time.

comparatively, john mayer was stiff as a damn board.

norah jones

on june 18th, i shot norah jones at dodge theatre. not really much to say about this show. after coming off the high that was the ben folds/john mayer show, jones had to have been one of my worst. we weren’t allowed anywhere near the stage and had to shoot from behind the mix board which is in the center of the theatre. luckily, i had a long lens that could handle the shoot.
